Men in Hats They Knitted – the mad hatters of Peru: The Peruvian knitted hat with ear flaps that became so trendy in recent years around the world is knitted by men and women in Peru. The men traditionally knit their child’s first chullo and also their own chullos. That sounds like a generalization as I doubt businessmen of Lima do this.
The Coca Kings (as I call them) in my above photo are shamans. I drank chicha and chewed coca with them for hours and regret not buying one of their hats, but I was feeling kind of out of it by the end of the day.
